Carl-Johan ”Oa” Sevedag is a boundary-pushing Swedish composer and multi-instrumentalist whose music blends melodic finesse with unexpected, genre-defying flourishes. Born in 1987 in Skåne, Sweden, and raised in Spain before settling in Stockholm, Sevedag brings a pan-European sensibility to his work—one shaped by a deep ear for harmony, a playful approach to melody, and a fearless curiosity that spans cinematic styles.
Sevedag’s breakthrough came early. At just 23, he composed the score for Clouds Over Cuba, an ambitious multimedia documentary that would go on to win an Emmy Award at the Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards. The project marked a turning point, launching him into the world of screen composition and setting the stage for a career defined by versatility and emotional depth.

Oa´s recent credits include 2023´s Opponent, Milad Alami’s tense and intimate drama, which became Sweden’s official submission for the Academy Awards. He also crafted the sonic identities behind Netflix’s high-stakes survival thriller Red Dot directed by Alain Darborg, and Bartosz M. Kowalski’s unsettling horror feature Hellhole. For Måns Nyman’s debut film Locals, Sevedag took a bold detour into 1960s nostalgia, layering an immersive period-inspired score that doubled as character study and atmosphere.
Continuing his foray into genre cinema, current projects include the Polish psychological horror-thriller 13 Days Until Summer, and the forthcoming Villain of Villains, an existential mystery fim for children from SF Studios and Alain Darborg.
Beyond film, Sevedag has carved out a presence in the world of interactive media. His game scoring credits include the brooding, horror-tinged atmosphere of Decrepit , and the futuristic, space-combat epic Jump Ship —both showcasing his knack for immersive world-building through sound.
Sevedag is also a frequent collaborator with fellow Swedish composer Jon Ekstrand. Together, they’ve delivered standout scores for Borg vs. McEnroe, Horizon Line, the gritty crime series ALEX, and the internationally acclaimed drama Top Dog, which earned them the “Best Score” honor at the Cannes Series Awards in 2020.
